Waterslides, running & a Real soccer game

Aquatic Center
Here’s the continuation of our weekend! We decided to go to the Aquatic Center with some of my family. We were excited to find out that it was a free day! So we went down the waterslides a few times and played in the pool. We were getting ready to start the waterslides again when we found out (from some kids who obviously knew everything about the pool), that they closed the waterslides for a half an hour to do some sort of pool checks. They told us that if we waited, we could be first in line when the waterslides opened up again. I love it when the little kids can tell you exactly what you need to do!! :) We had a busy day planned, so we decided to leave. I’m sure 6 more people were thrilled we were leaving. Since it was free day, the Aquatic Center was filled to capacity. There was a huge line outside the center waiting for people to leave.

Running
Then Steve and I set out to do our Saturday run in preparation for our half marathon. Saturdays are supposed to be the day for the longest runs. Since we didn’t have any other time, we had to run it at about 4:30 in the afternoon. It was about 88 degrees outside!! This week we were supposed to run 5 miles. We didn’t have quite enough time to get all five miles in, but we made it to 4.6 miles….not too bad!! By the time we were finished, we were sweating like crazy, but we were proud of ourselves! We have really come a long ways with our running!

REAL Soccer
After a quick shower, we headed off to the Real soccer game. My sister and her husband work with Real, so they were able to get us free tickets. When we got to the gate, I looked down to see where our tickets were at and we found they were front row tickets!!! We were really excited. As we made our way down to our seats, we realized that we were in quite a die-hard fan section. So we had a great time cheering and following the leads of the fans. I’m not a soccer expert, so I didn’t always know what was going on. We had a lot of good laughs listening to the people in our section. Here’s a few of my favorite conversations:

Crowd (chanting): Go home Canada! Go home Canada! (The opposing team was from Canada)
Boy sitting by his dad: Dad, why do we hate Canada?
Dad: Well, we don’t really hate Canada, we’re just (pauses) joking.

The crowd created this cheer about the goalie from the other team. They basically chanted about how no one liked him and how terrible he was. After the first cheer, someone yelled out…your mom doesn’t even like you. Then next time this same boy from above yells, “and your grandma doesn’t like you either!!” :) I don’t really condone chanting things like this, and teaching kids to do it…but I have to admit, that boy’s comment really made me laugh.

Then it came for the half-time event! My sister and her boyfriend were able to participate in the KFC halftime challenge. They had to race to put on these costumes, do some Micheal Jackson dance moves, and then kick the soccer ball into the goal. Even though, my sister’s boyfriend went easy on her, he still ended up winning. It was so fun to watch them! They did an awesome job!

I love Saturdays!!

What a blast! We love REAL games and want to go to a few this summer. If you guys ever want to go (or get free tickets you don't know what to do with… ha ha) please give us a call. We aren't die hard fans, but we really enjoy going to the games. We'll give you a call too if we are able to go sometime.
