Race for the Cure
Posted on Friday, May 15th, 2009 at 9:35 pmLast weekend, I did a 5K, Race for the Cure, with my mom and my sisters. It was a neat experience to be part of this race. Two years ago, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, so it was a good opportunity to celebrate her strength through a difficult trial. My mom is amazing!! Our family is so lucky to have her! It was sad to see those who had loved ones that had passed away from breast cancer.
When we signed up to do the race, I had no idea what a huge event it was going to be. There were so many people participating. We got there early enough to be towards the front and you could look back and see thousands and thousands of people behind you. There were so many people that when the race started, you couldn’t hardly move. There was about 18,000 people participating in the race! The night before the race, Steve was teasing me, “just don’t come in last.” Well, we definately weren’t first, but I would say there was around 10,000 people behind us–so we weren’t last!!
We had so much fun that we decided it should be a tradition!
Thanks to my brother-in-law for the photos! He was nice enough to come around with us all morning to be our photographer!
