New President in the Fourth Grade World

Posted on Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 at 2:39 pm

Today as the student came into school they were all talking about the new president. Some kids were telling me that their parents voted for Obama, others said, I’m sad, I wanted McCain to win; however, my whole class was disturbed that Obama had won. They told me, Obama is going to make us go to school on Saturday AND he’s going to make us go to school for 12 hours every day!! I almost laughed out loud when I heard that! I told them that I was sure Obama wasn’t going to change the schools, but I’m still wondering where that rumor came from!! There’s never a dull moment when you teach elementary school!!

As a mom, I don’t think I’d mind if they went for 12 hours! ;)

They’re not the only ones! My 4th grade class was pretty upset about it too. Most of them were acting all angry that Obama is our new President and most of their parents voted for McCain. We had to have a little talk about respect. They weren’t aware of the 12 hour school days and Saturdays too bit, though. That’s really funny!
