CPR/First Aid Class

Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

On Saturday, Steve and I took a CPR/First Aid class. I’ve been wanting to take this class for a long time, because I’m with a lot of children everyday. I’d hate to think that I wouldn’t know what to do if something happened with one of the kids. I didn’t really want to go by myself, so I convinced Steve to go with me! It was actually a good class. The nurses didn’t make the class go longer than necessary and I learned a lot of good information. Now we’re officially certified…well almost…as soon as our cards come in the mail! :)

We did have to laugh, because everyone gets certified. There was a lady there who needed to be certified because she works in a day care. It was pretty scary though because she could not figure out the steps to CPR, even when we practiced them several times. Then when we were learning how to do the Abdominal Thrust (previously called the Heimlich Maneuver) she could not figure out how to place her hands correctly. I tried to help her by moving her hands in the proper place, but even that did not help. In Steve’s words, “I would rather die than have her do CPR on me!” But most likely in that case, you’d be unconscious and at least you wouldn’t know!! :)

I’m glad I have the information, but I’m hoping I NEVER have to use it!!

Finally….a new post!!

It has been awhile since I’ve posted! I’ve actually been busy because of school starting. So this is about 3 posts into one!! Hopefully you can make it to the end!! :)

Labor Day Weekend

We had the chance to go to Wyoming with my family. It’s a tradition for everyone to go along with my grandparents. We had a great time! We went on a hike to a place called Periodic Springs. It is a natural spring where the water only flow for a few minutes and then stops! We had some great rides on the four wheelers and came back covered with dust!

While we were there, we had an extended family reunion. We didn’t really know a lot of people, so we kind of kept to our own family! (Isn’t that how most huge family reunions turn out to be). One of my former students was at the reunion. (She’s my mom’s cousin’s daughter!!) She was a little bit embarrassed to come say hi, but it was fun to see her!

Every year my grandma also plans a game. This year, we had to unscramble a puzzle and then we got a clue to find our prize. Unfortunately Steve and I didn’t do too well…we came in last place, but our prize was $20…not too bad!!! We’ll have to practice up for next year!!

We had a great weekend!

Steve and I trying to do a jumping picture!! I messed up the jump! Ooops!!!

Bowling with Steve’s Family

After we got back from Wyoming, we had a party for Steve’s dad to celebrate his retirement. He loves bowling, so almost the whole family went bowling. It was fun! I bowled a 99…almost made it to 100 this time!! :)

New Car

My car has been pretty unreliable lately, so Steve and I decided that it was time for a new car!!! After many, many hours with “crazy” car salesman, we finally found what we wanted. We were able to get a Honda Accord!! We’ve been having fun with our new car!!!

Last picture of my old car!

Our new car! It’s kind of hard to see because it was about 8:30 at night when we finally finished the sale. It took us a long time that day to actually make a decision!!! (Despite the plates…we actually bought our car at Willey Honda!)
