Summer is fun!!!

Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

We’ve done a lot of fun things this summer and I haven’t been posting really well, so here is a short update of some of the fun things.

Steve’s Birthday was fun. We had some of a Steve’s friends over for a little party. This is a picture of one of the presents he received…a nerf gun set! :)

For my birthday, Steve took me to Mueller Park. We got Costa Vida to go, and ate up there. Then we roasted s’mores. It was a fun and relaxing birthday night!

Then a couple of weeks ago, I decided Steve and I needed a little vacation, so I suprised him by reserving a hotel room in Salt Lake for the night. We rode Frontrunner to Salt Lake. Steve takes Frontrunner to work everyday, but it was my first time–so he showed me the ropes! It’s a good thing Steve has a pass, otherwise it would be too expensive–but it was nice to not drive! We had a great time in Salt Lake. Even though we didn’t go far, it was still fun to have a mini-vacation!!

Last Friday, I started teaching an English class. There are some Chinese students staying with host families in the area, so over the next three weeks, we teach them English in the mornings. It has been a really fun experience. The kids are really fun! There are a few things that really surprised me about the Chinese students. They love basketball–especially the boys. While we were doing another activity, some of the boys found a few basketballs in the gym and I had to stop them from playing. Another interesting thing, they’ve never seen drinking fountains. They were pretty amazed to see how we get water from them. I’ve also had an interesting time trying to pronounce their names. Luckily for me, some of them have chosen some English names to make it easier for us Americans. This has been a great experience for the summer! I’ll make sure to get some pictures posted of the students.

Summer is going by WAY too fast, but I’m loving it!!

Fourth of July

We had a fun Fourth of July. We went with my family to a place up American Fork Canyon called Silver Lake flats. We like to go rafting in the reservoir up there. So we had a fun day playing in the lake and then later we went to my Grandma’s house for a barbecue! So good food and family…what could be better!! :)

Then later that night, my sister, Katie and her husband Paul came to the city fireworks with us. I wasn’t sure how the fireworks were going to be, but we were really impressed. Our city sure knows how to put on a good firework show!! I love holidays!!

Guitar Hero World Tour

Wow it’s been a long time since our last post. I just pre-ordered the Guitar Hero World Tour for the wii. For those of you not familiar with this upcoming version of guitar hero, it is similar to Rock Band in that there is two guitars, a drum set, and microphone. Technically it only comes with one guitar, but a second can be purchased (and hopefully the guitar from guitar hero III will work as the second guitar). The drum set is said to be an improvement compared to Rock Bands version. It has 3 drum heads, 2 cymbal pads, and a bass peddle. It is able to detect how hard the drums are hit and play the note loader or softer accordingly. Also, it will allow downloadable content, which is a first for the wii version of both Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I’m really excited for this to be released. One of my good friends (Mandi) has Rock Band, and it’s a blast to play. It should be delivered near the end of October and I can’t wait to have people over to play it!!
