Two Funny Primary Kids

Posted in Uncategorized | 3 Comments »

I have to tell you about two funny stories of two primary kids during sharing time.

First story:
One boy was playing and talking with the boy sitting next to him. I told them they needed to be reverent. He was reverent for about 2 seconds then started up again. I reminded him again that he needed to be reverent. Of course he was reverent for another 2 seconds. Then I told him it was his last warning, if we wasn’t reverent I’d have to have him switch seats so he wasn’t sitting next to that boy. This time he lasted about 5 seconds before he started up again. So I told him to switch seats, which he did. Then he looked at me and with a half frustrated, half given up tone he said “Gosh, I’m only part human”. I had to hold back the laughs and keep myself from asking what the other part of him was. I just gave him a smile to let him know he was still a good kid.

Second story:
I was sitting next to one of the boys and he said “Look at my finger!” So I looked and lo and behold he was flipping me off. I quietly whispered to him that that was a bad finger to hold up. He said, “I know, but I wanted to show you what happened to my finger”. Until then, I didn’t even realized that his finger had anything wrong, I just saw that he was flipping me off. His fingernail was gone and his skin was all disgusting looking.

Since we don’t have kids of our own yet, I like to blog about other peoples kids, because they are so hilarious!!

Tetherball

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

A couple of days ago I let my class have an extra recess. I was just watching to make sure everyone was okay, and some of the kids were playing tetherball. They begged me to come play with them. Since I try to be a fun teacher, I agreed. Everyone knows I’m not a very “sporty” person, but I thought that I could play tetherball–I used to love it when I was in elementary school. So I had to ask the kids to remind me of the rules and then we started playing. I lost within a matter of minutes! Then another girl wanted to play me and luckily I was able to beat her, although it was a close game. Then I had to play one more time, and yes, I lost AGAIN to a girl half my size!! After we came back in, a few kids in my class were telling me how wonderful of a tetherball player I was–I had to wonder did they see me play? Then another boy said, I think it’s only because she’s tall. And then my favorite comment. “I saw you play teacher, you were pretty good, but you didn’t really look like you’d been playing your whole life!!” I guess I need to brush up on my tetherball skills!! :)

From this moment there was a return of his former jealousy, which Maria, from increasing hopes of Crawford, was at little pains to remove, and the chances of Mr. Rushworth’s ever attaining to the knowledge of his two-and-forty speeches became much less.

I have no clue what this is talking about, because I haven’t read this book yet, but I watched “Becoming Jane” a few weeks ago, and I decided I wanted to read more Jane Austen books. I love Pride and Prejudice, so we’ll see how this one is.

I tag anyone else who wants to do this!

P.S. I’m sorry to anyone who has tagged me in the past and I haven’t responded…I will be better!!! :)

Lucky China

On Friday night Steve and I decided to go out to eat. We went to this Chinese place called Lucky China. My family and I always went there when we were growing up, so I told him we should try it. We had the most hilarious dinner!! We decided to order combination plates, with chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, and fried rice. Our waitress (and you must picture all this said with a very thick Chinese accent), said “you sure you want the Chow Mein, the younger generation, they like the Lo Mein, and I can substitute the Lo Mein for only $1 more.” When we said we wanted the Chow Mein, she tried to describe it to us…and asked us again, “you sure you want the Chow Mein?” We once again told her that’s what we wanted, and so she finally took our order. Then when she brings out our meals, she points to Steve and says, I put the sweet and sour sauce on yours, you are a man, you eat the whole plate. Then she points to me and says, I put your to the side, we women, we cannot eat too much, our stomach will poke out. You take some of this home! I got a good laugh out of that, but it gets even better. Well, Steve didn’t really end up liking his Chow Mein, but he tried to stir it around, so it would look like he had eaten some of it. When the waitress came back she looked at Steve and said, “You no like your Chow Mein?” He tried to be polite and said it was okay, but she would have none of it. She said, “I told you, you no like the chow mein. Next time you come here you ask for Lo Mein, and if you not remember, tell the waitress that you want the SOFT noodles, they will understand,” then she went on to describe how she only works a couple of nights a week, and how she has worked there for seven years and knows what the customer likes. Then she continued the lecture by saying, You both cannot get the same thing, you need to get different things, then you try a little of both and you can get what you like. Then she told us to take home our food, because we paid good money for this food and Chinese food is still pretty good when you warm it up the next day. So needless to say, we packed up ALL our food including the Chow Mein (we didn’t want another lecture). As we were packing up, Steve asked me where I had put our fortunes. When I told them they were on the table, he said, pick them up…what if it’s rude to leave the fortunes!! As we left, I was laughing SO hard. I’ve never seen Steve so concerned about what he was taking home…and I’ve never gotten so many lectures from a waitress before!! We gave her a good tip, because it was such an entertaining night!!

If this doesn’t seem funny to you, ask Steve and I to tell you in person with the Chinese accent, it’s great!!
