Labor Day Weekend

We had a fun Labor Day weekend with my family. It has become a tradition for us to go to Wyoming and spend a few days at the trailer. One of the highlights of this years trip was a four-wheeling trip led by my grandpa. Now, you might think that a trip led by a grandparent would be just a nice little joy-ride. Well, this wasn’t–from what I hear (I decided to go on a little safe ride later)–Steve got high-centered in some very deep ruts in the trail, and my sister Katie almost slid down the mountain a couple of times. Here’s Steve and all his dusty face after finishing with the ride.

Another highlight was Grandma’s game. She always comes up with the fun games. Last year our game was to see who could blow the biggest bubble, with bubble gum. You should have seen how many pieces of bubble gum we had fit in our mouths. For this years game we all received a present. We could decide to keep our presents or trade them in for another present. To help us decide my mom and grandpa would answer yes or no questions. So for about a half an hour, we agonized over which present we should choose. Most went the chicken route and decided to keep our original presents. Steve unwrapped his and he received a candle holder with 10 dollars in it! I got one of those flashlights that you can shake to recharge it. The next night we had a Jenga contest. Each couple set up the Jenga game and had to pull as many as pieces out as they can without making the tower fall…unfortunately Steve and I didn’t plan our strategy very well and lost miserably!!

The last highlight I’ll mention was our hike to Periodic Springs. It is a really neat hike, because you get to the top of the springs and the waters is gushing out…well the waters slows down and finally stops coming out. It stopped for about 20 minutes, and then it started gushing out again. It is some sort of natural phenomenon where the water recirculates itself.

So it was a great trip!! Thanks Katie for letting me use your pics!! :) Steve and I need to be better about taking our own pictures!
