Still Draining….

When I started draining this pool, I read the manual and I saw that it takes 3-7 hours to fill. I mistakenly thought that it would be about the same amount of time to drain! Unfortunately it has taken much much longer! This is a picture of our pool after 20 hours of draining!! *Note:I did not take a picture of the inside, because it hasn’t been cleaned yet and I didn’t want to gross people out. I promise that our pool will be fully sanitized before anyone swims in it!! :)

Random side note: Steve will finish his last final for summer semester tomorrow! We are hoping that he will be done with chemistry forever!!

Since you first said that the only way to get rid of the algae problem, I have had a burning question. Wouldn’t it have been better to just drain it last fall and not have all of the worries that you have had? If that is the case, then wouldn’t the previous owners know that? So my question is, why would they have ever told you not to worry about draining it? I know there is no real answer, but I felt the question should be written out loud.

Yeah, it would have been nice if they emptied the pool last fall, but I don’t think the algae problem actually started until this spring. We found out that we needed to chlorinate it earlier than we did, so the algae was probably our fault. We are planning on draining every fall anyway though, because we don’t want to worry about the water expanding and possibly breaking the pool liner. That would be horrible if we flooded all our neighbors basements.
